Taking the Stress Out of OSHA Logs

01/27/2020 Written by: Tyler Haldane

Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) recordkeeping requirements have long posed employers with stressful tasks and situations to stay up to speed. Making the situation even more taxing, in recent years OSHA has increased the cost of fines and started giving out citations on an incident-by-incident basis, as opposed to grouping multiple citations together. Questions about what to record and what not to record have always reigned. The common misconception that all workers’ compensation claims are OSHA recordable can lead to over-reporting. Other issues with recording arise when dealing with how and where to store the recorded logs for the required five-year time period as well as how to gain easy access to the logs in case of a surprise inspection.
AssuredPartners offers a solution to these issues with our OSHA log tool and incident advisor. The incident advisor walks the user through several detailed questions to determine if the incident is an OSHA recordable or not. After a determination has been made that an incident is OSHA recordable, the OSHA log tool then provides a step-by-step process for clients to ensure all required information is properly logged. It allows users to print and export the OSHA 300, 300A and 301 incident reporting forms to send electronically to OSHA or to display in the workplace. The OSHA log tool makes reports readily available should an OSHA inspector visit and stores the data for the required time period. The system will send alerts to notify employers of reporting deadlines and of incomplete incident reports. The user-friendly tool turns a stressful task into simple process that allows employers to keep their minds at ease and concentrate on the main OSHA task of providing a safe workplace that is free from dangerous hazards.
